IKAT from Mallorca, known locally as roba de llengües (cloth of tongues), is the island's most emblematic handcrafted textile. It is distinguished by its geometric patterns with blurred edges that resemble flames or tongues of fire.
Today, only a few family workshops preserve this ancient dyeing technique, which originated in Asia and is unique in Europe. They use natural fibers such as cotton and linen, and the process remains largely manual, resulting in slight variations in each piece that guarantee its authenticity.
This is why we are very honored with our collaboration with Teixits Vicens, the most inspiring traditional Textile artisan in Mallorca. We now have a corner for their amazingly beautiful products in our shop at Forn de sa Llotgeta.
